My client is a boutique Employee Benefits agency located in the Gig Harbor/Tacoma area. They are growing and want to hire an experienced Employee Benefits Account Manager to round out their Client Service team. The agency has a strong dedication to work/life balance and is known in the community for outstanding client service. They believe that every customer group is important, no matter what size. The client is offering a “King County” style salary and benefits package including 401K with match, 120 hours of PTO, paid holidays, paid continuing education/industry memberships, and mileage reimbursement for business travel. This is a full time, Mon to Fri in-office job unless traveling locally for client meetings. You will be working with groups of 10 to 350 lives. Salary range is $65,000 to $90,000 DOE.

Key job duties include:

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, and carriers
  • Provide consistent, accurate, and timely communication to clients through verbal andwritten correspondence
  • Build out and maintain Employee Navigator for new clients and/or open enrollmentConduct face-to-face meetings with clients, and carriers, as necessary, including openenrollment meetings
  • Coordinate with producer and analyst to create new and renewal proposals, includingspreadsheets, plan options
  • Prepare written communications such as open enrollment memos, renewal reports,custom employee communications and benefit summaries
  • Submit new and renewal business to insurance carriers and audit for accuracy
  • Provide an elevated level of customer service to resolve claims, billing, and other issueson a timely basis. All activity should be appropriately documented through agencysystem.
  • Provide compliance support to clients, including annual compliance notebook, andassisting with federal, state and insurance company requirements including ERISA, ACA,HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, 5500s, PCORI, etc.
  • Maintain client files accurately and consistently documenting conversations, sendingconfirmations to clients, and adhering to all agency automation and documentationstandards
  • Actively participate in meetings with prospective clients

Background desired:

  • WA Life & Disability license
  • 2+ years of agency employee benefits account management experience
  • Ability to handle a group renewal from start to finish for groups sizes 10 to 350 (self-funding knowledge or desire to learn is a huge plus)
  • Polished Account Management skills over the phone, email, and in person.
  • Ability to solve problems and find solutions for clients
  • Ability to work autonomously without a lot of supervision

Group Benefits Account Manager: Small Group

My client is a boutique group benefits insurance agency located in Tacoma, WA. They have a very loyal client following and are well-respected for their innovative use of technology and dedication to customer service and retention.

They are adding a Small Group Service Account Manager to their team. The book will be groups of 2 to 10 lives and you will handle all parts of the renewal including using Excel for spreadsheets. This is a salaried office role with Mon to Fri hours. You will be responsible for customer service on the phone and over email as well as quoting, spreading the rates, on-boarding the groups, and being the liaison for benefits questions and claims advocacy. In short, you will be the insured group’s benefits go-to person!

Candidates need to have some core medical group benefits experience in account management from an agency or benefits carrier to be considered for the role. The client will pay for you to obtain your Life & Disability license if you don’t already have one. You must be comfortable using Excel and Word at an intermediate level with strong accuracy and have a love of people and customer service.

The client can hire right away to get you trained up quickly for Q4, or they can have you start after the first of the year.

Employee Benefits Account Manager with Commission paid on book growth

Are you an experienced Benefits Account Manager? Are you feeling overworked and under paid for your contributions? If you answered “yes” then maybe it is time to explore your options and talk with my insurance agency client!

My client is a full service independent insurance agency located in Multnomah County in Oregon. You will be working as an Account Manager in their Group Benefits Department. You will be supporting Benefits Producers who specialize in groups ranging from 20 to 150 lives. You will not have an assistant so you must be able to perform all parts of the renewal from start to finish including spread sheet analysis and employee benefit meetings. The book is all fully insured business. In addition to managing the renewal process, you will also market new business marketing and act as a claims advocate on behalf of your client groups.

The company provides a nice benefits package with 401K, generous profit sharing, free lunch/snacks, and free parking. This role allows for strong career growth and development. The office is spacious with state of the art computer systems. Salary is DOE and there is a commission for book growth than can range from $15,000 and up in addition to salary.

Position requires knowledge of local OR carrier markets, strong knowledge of Health Care Reform, 4+ years experience working as an Account Manager in an agency setting, and an OR Life and Health license. The ability to use Excel and Word at an intermediate level is also needed.
