My client is part of one of the largest insurance brokerages in the country. This is a regional office that oversees the accounting month end financial reports for 12 different agencies. You will report to the VP of Finance in this new role. The office uses AMS360 agency management system as well as a proprietary software for all accounting including using Excel for reporting.
Ensures all accounting entries are completed by the second business day subsequent month end and consolidated financial statements and dashboard are issued by the fifth business day subsequent month end.
Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the monthly financial statements, including (1) the reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers or account support documents to the general ledger (2) the identification and explanation of actual vs. budget revenue or expense fluctuations (3) the preparation and accuracy of various financial management related reports.
Oversight of financial reporting on a monthly basis. Creates detailed and summary level reports for local and regional branches.
Process/approves carrier and vendor payments
Reviews financial statements to identify potential errors or areas for improvement
Assists Director of Finance in preparing or reviewing necessary monthly/quarterly/annual journal entries necessary to close
Assists with budget preparation
Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable and take action as necessary for aged items
Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
Reconcile general ledger and bank accounts
Provides management with timely reviews of organization’s financial status and progress in its various programs and activities
Manages accounts receivable and ensures the accounts receivable policy is properly enforced
The office is in downtown Seattle with lovely skyline views. This is a Mon to Fri in-office position with flexible start times. After training, there will be a 1 day work from home option.
Future growth opportunities include accounting staff management and other special projects as outlined by the Director of Finance.
Candidates must have performed all of these accounting functions at a previous firm. Preference will be given to candidates who have insurance agency accounting experience. Knowledge of AMS360 is a huge plus.
