My client is a regional full-service independent insurance agency in Eugene, Oregon. They have a terrific benefits and wellness plan and dedication to a culture emphasizing work/life balance. They have no interest in selling the agency so this is an employer you can depend on!

Due to an upcoming retirement, they want to add a new Personal Lines Account Manager to their team. You will split the book with another Account Manager with a focus on service and client retention. They have a loyal customer base. The agency uses AMS360 and will train on software. You will have a salary of $41,000 to $55,000 (salary is dependent on independent agency carrier experience) and you will get policy spiffs on any new lines you write.

You will work in the office 2 days one week and 3 days the next alternating with the other account manager in the department so that there is always someone in the office to handle walk-in traffic. Hours are Mon to Fri 8:30 am to 5 pm with 1 hour lunch.

Key job responsibilities include:

  • Explain policy types and coverages to insureds and prospects.
  • Service existing customers and processing new insurance applications.
  • Process policy renewals and issue certifications as needed or requested.
  • Review quotes, policies, and endorsements for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare sales information for customers such as proposals and policy summaries.
  • General account maintenance and data management.
  • Round out existing accounts, gain referrals, and follow up and quote on company-provided leads.

Candidates need to have strong computer skills, AMS360 is a plus, sales aptitude, an Oregon P & C license, and at least one year of insurance agency experience at either a Direct Writer or an independent agency.  You need to live a commutable distance from Eugene, OR to allow for hybrid scheduling.

My client is a well-established insurance agency located in Issaquah, WA. He has won the Chairman’s Circle Award for several years and is recognized as a leader in the industry. He is looking to add a new team member who speaks fluent Spanish. This is an in-office Mon to Fri permanent staff role. The agent will pay for your 40-hour WA State Licensing class, exam, and fingerprints, and then once licensed, you will be paid $21 to $22 (hourly) plus commission on all new sales. At target, you should see another $1000/mo in commission income. You will have paid vacation, sick time, and he will also help to subsidize your personal health insurance.

The office is fun and lively with a great work/life balance and free parking. The agency prides itself on its “Nordstrom like” customer service and soft-selling approach.

How the training program works: You will spend the first week in the Agent’s office doing the 40-hour online licensing class. Once you have completed the class, you will take the WA State exam which takes about 2 hours. When you pass the test, you will receive your insurance license and upon successful completion of the background check, you will go on payroll at $21 to $22/hour as a W2 agency employee and you will begin the in-house training with senior staff members which will teach you how to do policy service, quote rates, work with underwriters, and do other account service tasks. All work is done over the phone, online, and over text. You will work Mon to Fri 9 am to 6 pm at the office. You will work with both Armenian and English-speaking customers. Your goal will be to write at least 30 new insurance applications in the first 90 days working up to 50 applications or more each month. You will get a percentage of the insurance premium for auto and home policies, and an additional bonus per policy written in addition to your hourly wage. 1st year income of $52,000 to $60,000 or more is expected in this role based on meeting goals.

Candidates need to have fast computer skills, a desire to learn and grow in the insurance industry and be coachable. You must be able to speak fluent Armenian and English over the phone and be able to commute daily into the Issaquah, WA office.

You will be a salaried W2 full time employee of the agency. They offer a base salary of $50K, an unheard of 5 weeks of PTO that accrues weekly, 100% paid medical/dental plan for the employee, 401K plan, and most importantly, a great family-friendly work culture. You will be in a trusted advisor sales role. You will respond/reach out to walk-ins, call-ins, referrals, and other internet or mailing leads. Goal is to understand the client’s insurance needs, current policies, evaluate coverage gaps, and suggest a solid overall risk strategy that fits their needs and budget. Goal is to build up to writing 60 applications/month. 1st year expectations are $70K to $75K.  Current seasoned sales employees of the agency are making $100K.

Soft skills needed are a long-term commitment to the area, desire to be a trusted agent and not just a slick salesperson, great team spirit, positive attitude, and genuine desire to help educate the customer on their policy options.

Candidates need to have at least 1 year of insurance agency experience and a P & C license; L & D is a plus, but not required initially. Local candidates are preferred, however, out of state candidates moving to the Seattle area within 60 days are welcome to apply. This is a Mon to Fri, 8:30 am to 5 pm in-office sales role.
