Friday Success Story 🌟

By Kary York

Never underestimate the power of persistence! I’m thrilled to share a recent win that perfectly illustrates why staying engaged with potential employers can pay off.

Recently, I worked with an exceptional licensed account manager who had both stellar service and sales skills. He interviewed with one of my agency clients and they immediately felt the chemistry was right – a perfect match on paper and in person!

Here’s where things got complicated: the agency had a valued team member facing serious health challenges, and they weren’t comfortable making staffing changes until they had clarity on her situation. Many candidates would have simply moved on.

Instead of seeing this as a rejection, my candidate launched a thoughtful “keep in touch” campaign:

He researched the agency’s markets and shared insights
Offered creative suggestions for targeting new accounts
Expressed genuine appreciation for their loyal, caring approach toward their team member.

What impressed me most was his understanding that the agency’s compassion toward their employee was actually a positive indicator of their culture.

The result? Once they confirmed their internal employee was stable, they brought him back for a final interview and offered him the job!

This experience reinforces an important lesson for job seekers: sometimes “not now” simply means “not yet.” Building meaningful connections during the waiting period can transform what feels like a missed opportunity into the perfect timing.

Persistence pays off. Don’t give up on your dream job after the first “no.”
