My client is a full-service independent insurance agency with 21 offices and 150 employees and growing. They want to hire a new trainee in their Klamath Falls office who can become a Life and Health licensed team member in their Individual Health, life/family, and Medicare insurance division.  This is a perfect time to join the firm as Open Enrollment will be beginning soon which will allow you to work closely with the Senior Team to see all parts of the new business and renewal process as part of your in-house training.

You will start out doing non-licensed administrative and customer data input tasks to allow you to become familiar with computer workflow processes, CRM software, and industry terminology.  You will also begin your Oregon Life & Heath pre-licensing class which is a 40-hour online self-study class.  Once you complete that, you will take the Oregon State Insurance test.  When you pass the test, you will be awarded your Life & Health license.

Once you are licensed, you will mentor under one of the senior producers who will guide you so that you can start talking with customers about their current coverage plans, quote on new policies, and begin building your business development skills.  You will also start on your advanced insurance certifications to learn Medicare requirements for Klamath, Douglas, and Jackson Counties so that you can become appointed in 2024 with their Medicare Carriers once open enrollment is over towards the end of January.

Salary for this role is $35,000 to $36,000 plus commissions on new and renewal business, however, you will not be able to start earning commissions until you are fully licensed. Benefits start after only 30 days. This is a full time in-office role unless you are engaging in outside business development activities.  Hours are Mon to Fri 8 am to 5 pm.

Once licensed and fully trained, your job will evolve so that you can do the following:

  • Provide service to clients’ changing insurance needs by selling life, health, Medicare, and disability insurance.
  • Establish productive working relationships with clients.
  • Develop base for long-term sources of clients working with your local centers of influence.
  • Compile lists of prospects.
  • Establish, track, and report on goals for production with Health Department Lead and Branch Principal.
  • Renew assigned accounts, including reviewing policy coverages and updating account information with carriers and the internal CRM.
  • Conduct direct marketing, fact-finding, do submissions and write new accounts.
  • Assist existing clients as needed with servicing their insurance policies.

Candidates need to live in the Klamath Falls area, have a desire to have a long-term sales and customer service career, be outgoing with strong computer and communication skills, and can travel to meet clients outside of the office as needed in the local three county region once licensed for the purposes of networking and business development.
