If you have some personal lines insurance experience with either an independent agency or a direct/captive writer, this new full time Personal Lines Account Manager role which provides in-house training/mentoring and lots of scheduling flexibility with great benefits, could be a great fit.

My client is an independent insurance agency located just outside of downtown Portland, OR. Due to the addition of new producers, they need to hire one new Personal Lines Account Manager to the 5-person team. The agency uses EPIC and is paperless. This is a terrific opportunity to really build on your insurance coverage knowledge and mentor with a tenured team leader.

The agency is trying to provide as much flexibility as possible to their employees while still being able to serve the needs of their customers. It is common for customers to meet the Account Manager in the office for an account review as well as communicate with the agency via phone and email. As such, the team uses a hybrid model. They are asking the team to work 1-2 days in the office each week, usually a Tues or a Wed. These days are also reserved for Dept. Carrier meetings.

Key aspects to the role: Depending on your experience in personal lines, you will start with in-house training to learn systems, procedures, and accounts, then as soon as you are ready, you will move into the work from home rotation schedule depending on your work/life balance needs.

You will support 1-2 producers and you will have their accounts as well as some “house” accounts and a few High Net Worth clients based on your skills and coverage and carrier knowledge, You will use IBQ for rating.

The agency’s carriers are Safeco, Cincinnati, Chubb, Mutual of Enumclaw, Oregon Mutual, CIG, Travelers, and Nationwide. Wholesalers are used for specialty coverages.

You will have client contact primarily over the phone and email with some walk-ins. You will do renewals, coverage analysis, up-sell with additional coverage to avoid gaps, and help facilitate as needed when a claim occurs. You will also quote new business if asked by the producer.  This is a service role supporting mostly well-established clients.

The office is open Mon to Fri 8:30 am to 5:15 pm. Parking is free. Training time will depend on previous experience with Carrier Markets. Salary range is negotiable based on experience working in a similar agency role.

Candidates need to have an OR P & C license, at least 1 year of experience working in an agency setting with either an independent or a captive, and fast efficient computer skills. Knowledge of EPIC agency software is a huge plus. Candidates need to live a commutable distance from the office. Parking is free.
