My client is a well-established insurance brokerage with specialties in Trucking, Warehousing, Manufacturing, Construction, and related industries. They are looking to hire a New Commercial lines Account manager to shadow with their Senior Account Manager as part of a succession plan allowing you plenty of time to learn the accounts so that you can take over the book when the senior person retires. These are long-time clients. The book is a mix of long-haul trucking and other related risks.  They will train on trucking coverage if needed.  You will be supported by a team assistant for lower-level processing type tasks.  You will handle the renewal start to finish including working with the client account on safety issues and other risk management strategies.

The position is located in their Tacoma, WA office, not far from the Tacoma dome.  The role requires 4 days in the office to allow you to learn the accounts and meet clients in person as renewals come up. Key Account Manager duties:

  • Meets directly with clients. Negotiates and sells lines of insurance to clients. Designs insurance and risk management plans for single unit clients as assigned and directed by Agency management. Provides clients with full exposure analysis and reviews methods of handling risks. Works with the Producer to write new business accounts.
  • Leads accounts through the renewal process per department procedures. Markets accounts to insurance carriers and wholesalers as needed.
  • Maintains records according to Agency standards, ensures that procedures are properly followed, and that information is properly document and readily accessible.
  • Assists in the development of strong personal relationships with appropriate insurance carrier personnel. Assists Agency in developing carrier relationships by becoming familiar with and executing strategies developed for satisfying carrier goals and objectives.
  • Follows company procedures with respect to all essential duties and responsibilities of the job.
  • Reviews insurance and indemnification parts of contracts.
  • Processes or oversees process of change-request/endorsements, binders, certificates, account summaries, proposals, policies, lost policy releases, audits, and account balance status as needed.
  • Maintains follow-up and suspense on outstanding orders, correspondence, audits, reports, reporting form coverage, claims, renewal expirations and follows up promptly on these items.
  • Handles prompt review of all premium audits recognizing that the Agency must process audits timely.
  • Processes and follows up on requests involving carriers or clients to ensure accurate and timely resolution.
  • Manages the accounts receivable on the book of business to assure timely collection of premiums. Reconciles accounting discrepancies. Follow up on aged trial balances according to company procedures.
  • Refers current and prospective clients to other departments for solicitation of those lines of business.

Candidates need to have a WA P & C license and 5 years of Commercial Lines middle market account manager experience at the agency level.  Trucking experience is a huge plus.
