My client is an independent insurance agency located just outside of downtown Portland, OR. They are hiring a new Personal Lines Account Manager to their 5-person team. The agency uses EPIC and is paperless. This is a terrific opportunity to really build on your insurance coverage knowledge and mentor with a tenured team leader.

The agency is trying to provide as much flexibility as possible to their employees while still being able to serve the needs of their customers. It is common for customers to meet the Account Manager in the office for an account review as well as communicate with the agency via phone and email. As such, the team uses a hybrid model. They are asking the team to work 1-2 days in the office each week, usually a Tues or a Wed. These days are also reserved for Dept. Carrier meetings.

Key aspects to the role: Depending on your experience in personal lines, you will start with in-house training to learn systems, procedures, and accounts, then as soon as you are ready, you will move into the work from home rotation schedule depending on your work/life balance needs.

You will support 1-2 producers and you will have their accounts as well as some “house” accounts and a few High Net Worth clients based on your skills and coverage and carrier knowledge, You will use IBQ for rating.

The agency’s carriers are Safeco, Cincinnati, Chubb, Mutual of Enumclaw, Oregon Mutual, CIG, Travelers, and Nationwide. Wholesalers are used for specialty coverages.

You will have client contact primarily over the phone and email with some walk-ins. You will do renewals, coverage analysis, up-sell with additional coverage to avoid gaps, and help facilitate as needed when a claim occurs. You will also quote new business if asked by the producer. This is a service role supporting mostly well-established clients.

The company has an excellent benefits package with very little cost out of pocket, a 401K and profit sharing program. They also put on fun employee parties and events throughout the year.

The office is open Mon to Fri 8:30 am to 5:15 pm. Parking is free. Training time will depend on previous experience with Carrier Markets. Salary range is negotiable based on experience working in a similar agency role.

Candidates need to have an OR P & C license, at least 1 year of experience working in an agency setting with either an independent or a captive, and fast efficient computer skills. Knowledge of EPIC agency software is a huge plus. Candidates need to live a commutable distance from the office. Parking is free.

My client is a growing insurance brokerage in Medford, Oregon.  They are hiring a new Commercial Lines Account Manager.  You will be sharing the account manager responsibilities of the book with the Senior Commercial Lines Account Manager.  The book is about 2 Million in premium and is comprised of about 2/3 contractors and the rest general business.  The agency is on EPIC. This is a busy book and is mostly Oregon based businesses.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide general service to Commercial Insurance clients, including processing endorsements, making changes, issuing certificates of insurance, and answering policy questions.
  • Process renewals of accounts, including Agency Billed E&S policies.
  • Handle rewrites and re-marketing activities, involving the Account Executive as needed.
  • Write new business accounts.
  • Cross-sell current clients to round accounts.

My client is a National Insurance Brokerage with offices throughout Puget Sound.  Due to an upcoming retirement, they are looking to bring on a new Commercial Lines Account Manager to handle a $500,000 revenue book.  Most of the accounts are in the South Puget Sound area.  The book is a mix of construction, towing, and water district risks.  The premium ranges in size from small to about $100,000.  Many of the accounts are middle market and have been loyal customers for decades.  The agency uses AMS360.

The agency is open to remote or hybrid work arrangements, however, remote workers need to live in Western WA so that they can travel to accounts easily for key renewal meetings throughout the year.  If you want to work hybrid, you can be based out of Everett, University Place, or Auburn.  The agency believes in work/life balance, continuing education, and helping each employee plan their career path to take advantage of their key strengths.  Salary is dependent on past insurance agency experience, middle market coverage knowledge, and ability with AMS360. Full management of a book of business including marketing, servicing, renewal management, analyzing risks, invoicing, reporting, and assisting in all needs for sophisticated business customers including:

My client is a well-established insurance brokerage in Eugene.  They have many niche markets and very loyal customers.  They are searching for their next rising star Producer.  This is a rare opportunity to build a book of business with a 3-year W2 validation salary validation program.  You will work with the Sales Director to develop a sales and marketing plan to target companies in your desired niches. The agency has specialties in Public Entity, Trucking, Construction/bonds, manufacturing, farms/ranches, and tribal risks.  You will not have a minimum premium allowing you to sell to all sizes of accounts.

They will team you with Senior Producers who will act as mentors and subject matter experts as you develop prospects and set initial meetings.  They use a Team Sales approach to allow you to develop your coverage knowledge as you build your book of business. You will have tenured Commercial Account Manager support to help you market and place business as well as handle day to day servicing.

Your year one sales goal is $75,000 in new business revenue.  You will be paid 40% on new business and 30% on renewals and will have an expense program.

You will not have to be in the office daily, however, you will have regularly scheduled office/meeting time with sales leaders and your Account Manager team.  You will be given all IT to allow you to work from the field or your home office.  The agency uses AMS360 for agency management and Sales Force for tracking new business opportunities.  You will be provided training on all computer systems.

You will work in the office 2 days one week and 3 days the next alternating with the other account manager in the department so that there is always someone in the office to handle walk-in traffic. Hours are Mon to Fri 8:30 am to 5 pm with 1 hour lunch.
