My client is an independent insurance agency located in the Lynnwood area. They are looking for a new Producer to join their Cannabis team. This is a W2 role with a base salary of $35,000 to $36,000 plus a rich commission split on new and renewal business which should earn you an additional $3000 to $3500/mo. You will be inheriting a book of business with customers in six different states. You goal is to continue to grow the book through a combination of networking with industry associations, gaining referrals from existing customers, and targeting new prospects across WA, OR, CA, NV, AK, and CO. The business is placed primarily with wholesalers who will work with you to understand the nuances of individual state regulations with respect to the type of insurance that is required. You will be selling General and Product Liability policies both on the phone in the office, over the internet, and in person. This is NOT a remote position! You will be targeting new customers in four market segments: growers, distributors, transporters, and retailers. Each segment has different insurance needs depending on the state they reside in and some customers are new to the business and will be buying liability insurance for the first time. You will be their trusted advisor and will work with them to craft the appropriate risk strategy to meet their needs and will help guide them as they grow their businesses especially in newly legalized states. You will be supported by inside account managers who will handle renewals as well as paperwork for new accounts.

The client offers full benefits and lots of autonomy to allow you to continue to build the book. Expenses for industry associations, trade booths, etc are covered by the agency.

Background needed:

Candidates need to have a WA P & C license and at least a couple of years of agency level producer experience selling commercial general liability with a track record of success. Soft skills include proficiency with computers, strong networking and sales skills, and be able to work without a lot of direct supervision. Must be free to travel as needed to networking and other related industry events which can involve overnight travel on weekends.

This role requires a true insurance generalist that is well-versed in all lines of Commercial coverage as well as farm and Personal Lines. Carrier knowledge of Mutual of Enumclaw, Mutual of Oregon, Safeco, Liberty, Hartford, Travelers, Progressive, Grange, and E & S markets is crucial for success. My client, a growing independent retail insurance agency located in SE Portland area, is looking to add a Commercial Insurance Account Manager to their team. The firm is paperless and uses EPIC. You will be supporting a senior Producer and will be part of a three person team that manages his book. The book is a mix of local Portland based firms including contractors and manufacturers and a true generalist is needed who has solid knowledge across many categories of risk. You will have a ton of autonomy as the producer is out in the field most of the time. He wants a take charge type who can work independently. You will have processing support as well.

The primary function of this position is to provide quality service to the clients. The Account Manager will be the day-to-day liaison between the insurance company, agent, and their clients.

Daily servicing of clients will include addressing various coverage issues, and handling all the inside service work associated with the clients account, including all endorsement activity, routine coverage questions, problem solving, renewals, checking and binding of policies. The only exceptions are bond and claims related items which are handled by those departments.

Job specifics:

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients.

  • Reviews audits of policies; verifies accuracy and facilitates corrections, as needed, between client and carrier.
  • Determines if agency or direct billing and invoices accordingly. If it’s an agency bill account, enter the premium into the system, and forward accounting company invoice for further processing by their department.
  • Must update the Epic system accordingly using the Epic guidelines.
  • Sets priorities and manages work flow to ensure efficient, timely and accurate processing of transactions and other responsibilities.
  • Set up finance contracts with Premium Finance companies and help negotiate rates when applicable

Experience Desired:

  • 5 or more years experience as a Commercial Lines Account Manager, middle market to large accounts with construction and manufacturing experience, and currently hold a P & C license.

Prior insurance experience is NOT necessary, but strong sales experience is.

If you do not have your P & C and L & D insurance licenses, the company will help you get them. This is a full time W2 position and you will be a company employee. Once licensed, you will be on a salary and commission plan with full benefits and retirement. Hours are 8:30-5:30 M-Th and Fri 9:00-5:00. No weekends are required.

Your training will be in-house by their Sales Trainer. The goal of the role is for you to spend the first 60 to 90 days learning insurance coverages and systems which will prepare you to be able to produce 20 to 30 items per month. If you write 30 to 40 items/month will earn between $60K to $80K per year. Top performers can also earn week long company paid sales trips. Compensation is a combination of salary and commission on new policies. They also offer a generous full benefits package and 401K with matching.

This sales role will involve taking customer calls, quoting new insurance policies, calling internet leads, building your personal network/centers of influence, as well as cross-selling existing policies and following up with existing customers to gain referrals. The agency also has various sporting venues that you can utilize to help you build your book of business.

My client is looking for someone with lots of personal drive and ambition, previous quota/goals-based successful sales experience, strong communication skills on the phone and email and a desire to be in insurance sales.
